We are sorry to hear and report that K-9 Axe of the St. Clair Shores, MI Police Dept. was killed when Police were called to a banquet hall where a man armed with a hand gun and rifle had opened fire after police officers arrived.
There were approximately 70 people in the banquet hall when the man with the rifle showed up outside. The man ignored several of the Officers demands to put down the weapon and then he attempted to run from the scene on foot.
This was when K-9 Axe went into action and was shot by the suspect with the handgun, the press release stated. Police officers then returned fire on the suspect, shooting him. K-9 Axe was taken to a local animal hospital where he and pronounced dead.
Please keep Axe’s handler, his handler’s family and the St. Claire Shores Police Department in your prayers. Our K-9 officers are not only real partners to our police officers, but these officers rely on their K-9 partners daily and they are part of their handler’s family.
Axe was four years old and had been with the police department since 2016. I Support Law and Order wants to thank Axe for his service and may he rest in peace.
Oh did I mention, the suspect was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead as well. Yes, I mention this at the end as a side note because truth be told, he doesn’t deserve a second of our time, nor does anyone who commits murder or any crimes. But I just thought you may want to know what happened to him.
