Brent Taylor, UT Mayor killed in Afghanistan is back on U.S. soil

Brent Taylor, 39 years old, was shot by an Afghan commando he was training this past Saturday, who in turn was shot by Afghan forces.   He leaves behind his wife, Jennie and seven children ranging in ages from 11 months – 13 years old..

Major Taylor urged Americans to vote so it was fitting that he was returned on Election Day, said his wife.  She was at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to claim his remains with their 2 oldest sons and his parents.

Taylor was a military Intelligence officer with the Joint Forces Headquarters and served 2 tours in Iraq and was on his second tour in Afghanistan.  He was planning on returning to the U.S. in January where we would resume his position as Mayor of North Ogden.

Taylor wrote, ““As the USA gets ready to vote in our own election next week, I hope everyone back home exercises their precious right to vote. And that whether the Republicans or the Democrats win, that we all remember that we have far more as Americans that unites us than divides us. United we stand, divided we fall. God bless America.”

I hope, whatever way the elections go tonight, our government and people can honor his sacrifice by voting, remaining civil and working TOGETHER as one nation under GOD.  Let’s not let his sacrifice be for nothing.  Its men like Major Taylor who gives us our right to vote and our freedom.

Thank you for your service.  May you rest in peace.

God Bless your family for their sacrifice and God Bless America.
